Asinabka Festival Sept. 16-20, 2020

Festival Opening & Welcome Video

Music Livestreams

Handsome Savages (Adam McLaren) Live-streamed set on Facebook, Sept. 16, 2020

The Handsome Savages are a three piece punk rock band. They play originals which are about getting drunk, getting beat up and getting poutine; then some lighter stuff like wanting to die. The songs tend to follow a manic depressive formula, calm waters for the verse and then a tsunami hits you on the chorus. It can sound grungy, it can sound skaish, it can sound punk-rockish.

Brad Henry Band "Live" from the Phil Bouvier Family Centre (Vancouver), Sept. 17, 2020

Singer songwriter Brad Henry is of Vun Tut Gwitch’in and Inland Tlingit Heritage. He is from Whitehorse Yukon and raised in Vancouver. He learned to play guitar at school and by listening and emulating his aunt Rosalie and his 4 uncles who played rock country and folk music. Brad lives in Vancouver and has just completed his CD “Take Me Back” and is doing gigs and bookings. He is also a visual artist.

Anachnid Pre-rec. set released Sept. 18, 2020

Anachnid, Women spider, is an Indigenous multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her first album Dreamweaver – Polaris longlist – unveils a hybrid of electro-pop, trap, indie, soul and hip hop in uplifting urban and enigmatic ways.

Former drummer from the jangle rock group "How Far To Mexico" and former guitarist and songwriter for "Ethnotechnique". I write music about things and stuff, usually with a indy or jangle rock vision. Why subject myself to one genre?  Brian is Anishinabe from Kitigan Zibi First Nation.

Custom Digital Kokum Designs

By Artist Jason baerg

Each year Asinabka Festival commissions an artist to create a design for our festival branding, and in 2020 we were happy to have custom designed art by Metis artist Jason Baerg.  Four separate designs were created, and each design is a digital abstraction of a Kokum or Nokomis (grandmother).  The original images of the Kokum’s were provided by the Asinabka Festival’s organizing team as well as the artist himself.
